Sorba-Freeze Ltd is a sister company of Anderson’s Packaging (Aberdeen) Ltd.The concept of refrigerant pads evolved from the need to produce an absorbent pad suitable for use with the export salmon industry in the north west of Scotland and the Shetland Isles.
Fresh whole salmon used to be airfreighted to the USA and Japan using flake ice. The salmon industry required an efficient absorbent pad which soaked up the melted ice.
Anderson’s Packaging developed an absorbent pad but then in 1991, it took the product development a stage further and patented the Sorba-Freeze Refrigerant Pad.
Its flexible cell structure and refrigerant properties mean Sorba-Freeze is now used by a range of industries all requiring total temperature control when goods are in transit or kept out with the chiller cabinet.
